StormOS downloads hit the 1K mark

Sometime late last night we hit the 1K (HTTP) download mark since StormOS Hail Beta's official announcement on the 5th June, thats 2TB of bandwidth in 7 days!

StormOS Hail Beta ISO released!

The StormOS Hail Beta ISO has now been released and is available for download immediately, grab it here.

I welcome feedback on the forums or IRC channel (#stormos on irc.freenode.net).

The Storm is coming...

I have a StormOS ISO that works pretty well, It could use a bit of tweaking but the main thing is it works. Watch this space.

StormOS Hail Beta available to NCP2 RC1 users.

The StormOS packages are now in the repository and can be installed on top of NCP2 RC1

An ISO is currently being built for people that don't have NCP2 RC1 Installed.

Nexenta Systems Inc. sponsors StormOS

StormOS development is now sponsored by Nexenta Systems Inc, creators of the NexentaStor software based network attached storage appliance!

Fixing Xorg on Nexenta Core Platform 2 RC1

Installing Xorg completely broken APT for me. I was able to fix it by doing this however:

sudo rm /var/ld/ld.config
sudo ldconfig
sudo dpkg --configure -a

Now X works great.

Repo Update

The StormOS artwork (icons & GDM theme) are now in the repo, the last thing to do before creating an ISO is port and package Xfburn.

Mono and many GNOME/Gtk+ libraries are also now in the repo so GNOME users can install tomboy!

Synaptic package manager

As much as I like Smart package manager its just too buggy for everyday use, so I've decided to replace it with Synaptic package manager (which everyone seems to prefer anyway).

Nexenta Core Platform 2 RC1 Released

  • Smooth upgrade path from NCP1.
  • Community driver efforts bringing xorg, xfce4 and gnome-core into the repository

Smart Package Manager 1.2 has been ported to StormOS

Smart Package Manager 1.2 has been ported to StormOS and should be in the repos soon.

Smart is capable of detecting problems with packages installed as well as in the repos,
this should greatly help fix some of the packaging problems upstream in Nexenta CP2.
