Driver support for Intel Pro/Wireless 3945?

Tagged:

Hi,

I used Nexenta back in 2005 (alpha 3-5 I believe, until they raised the memory requirements above 256MB) and I'm curious about trying StormOS.

I'm currently "restricted" to Linux, because I have problems with my wireless card + 11a + WPA2-PSK with other free operating systems. OpenBSD 4.5 has the best support so far, but the connection drops regularly.
NetBSD uses an old wpi driver which didn't work for me.

Last I heard, Solaris uses the NetBSD driver, is this still correct? Is there anyone using an ipw3945 card with OpenSolaris + WPA and can report me success?

Thank you for answers and good luck with StormOS!

Johannes

Yep, this chipset is supported (I have it in my Thinkpad and works great on my WEP network) and WPA seems to be supported but I've not gotten around to trying it.

The first message I get with Nexenta so I imagine this is the same in Storm since this is a kernel level issue, I just came across this Storm OS searching for this bug in Nexenta's installer.

The Live CD is out so you can test it. Don't forget to report the results.

Unfortunately there are no options for wpa support and my 11a network wasn't found when scanning. :-(

The live cd in general worked on my notebook, except for two problems:
- gnome power manager reports a crash on startup
- xfce says it can't connect to trash (or similar)
