The beta didn't work that well under VirtualBox. I'll give the LiveCD a shot then!
Btw, I'm a programmer myself, but I know very little about distro making: What kind of tasks would you need developers for? Packaging? Custom configuration tools? And... do I really need 4 GB of RAM just to generate a Nexenta re-spin?

Unless VirtualBox is set to use OpenSolaris 64-bit, StormOS wont work too well. This will be fixed with Beta 2.

Thats pretty much it, at the momment my focus is on a GUI installer for the Beta2.

If you are creating a livecd you might be able to do it in 1GB RAM by using /var/tmp instead of /tmp, but this breaks install cd's. Either that or use the "stormos-builder-beta2" scripts which also work great with only 1GB RAM.
