Installing StormOS Hail Beta

You will need to burn the StormOS ISO to a CD if you have not done it already. VirtualBox users can skip this step if they are running directly from the ISO.

If you already have NCP2 installed see “Installing StormOS Hail Beta on top of NCP2” instead.

Installing StormOS Hail Beta on top of NCP2

Installing StormOS Hail Beta on top of NCP2 is quite easy. Just add the following to you /etc/apt/sources.list file:

# StormOS repository sources
deb http://stormos.org/stormos hardy-unstable main
deb-src http://stormos.org/stormos hardy-unstable main
Then run the following commands.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install stormos-desktop
sudo service gdm reload
Installing StormOS Hail Beta under VirtualBox

If you already have NCP2 installed see “Installing StormOS Hail Beta on top of NCP2” above.

Create a new virtual machine with OS type “OpenSolaris 64-bit”, other versions (read: 32-bit) will not work at this time.

Mount the StormOS ISO in the virtual machines CD drive and boot from it.
